I've been on a massive mixed gold/silver necklace kick lately. I love gold jewelry, but because I have a special necklace that was a gift from Noah that I never take off, if I want to wear gold elsewhere in my outfit I feel like I have to have a mixed metal necklace...but I digress!

When we were at the hardware store getting supplies for Noah's Mad Max costume I happened to notice these tiny hex nuts. I love simple, clean geometric shapes and I knew immediately that I wanted to make jewelry out of them! Today I'm showing you how to make your own dainty yet tough hex nut necklace. Need a last minute gift for someone this Holiday season? This is it!

Ready? Let's do this.

Ok, now that you've gotten your materials together, you're ready to spend the next five minutes making your necklace!

1. Cut your chain to your desired length. I wanted mine to be longish so I cut mine at 32 inches. Assemble your other materials.

2. Decide how many of your hex nuts you want to use. I was going to use all six, but my three year old decided that the other three were his "to make triangles with" and so I decided on three! String them onto your chain.

3. Open your jump ring using your needle nose and long nosed pliers.

4. Slip the last links of your chain onto your jump ring.

5. Close your jump ring using your long nosed pliers. Wear your necklace!

I hope you love it as much as I do!
