You might remember last week, when I showed you how to make this DIY Anthropologie inspired gold-dipped driftwood wall art and save yourself almost $400:
Well today, I'm going to show you how to make this modern gold-striped wooden tray using a thrift store find and some gold spray paint!
I love how it turned out, and considering that these kinds of wooden trays are everywhere at thrift, a similar one should be really easy to find near you. The only other thing you need is a can of gold spray paint.
I was inspired the last time I went to Target, by all the amazing gold, bronze and wooden serving dishes! Look how gorgeous:
My only issue is that Target, though more affordable then Anthropologie, still wanted kind of a lot for something like a simple serving dish. So I knew I could make a personalized version for a lot less money. Click through for my detailed instructions on how you can DIY your own gold-striped serving tray too!
You will need:
A wooden tray (from a thrift store or otherwise)
Gold spray paint
blue painters tape
1. Tape off your stripes on your tray, whatever distance apart you set your tape will be the thickness of the stripes:
2. Spray paint your tray gold, over the tape and everything.
3. Wait for your paint to completely dry, and then very gently pull the tape off to reveal your stripes.
And you're done!
This is exactly the kind of home decor project I love. Simple, manageable, quick and inexpensive. Plus, it's completely customizable, you could make this something completely your own. And it would make an amazing home made gift, too!
Thanks for checking out my latest project! Stay tuned this week for some tips on staying organized when you run a small business, and a delicious recipe, it's going to be a good week!
