Girly Crochet Leg Warmers (A Free Beginner Pattern)

These leg warmers are really, truly a beginner pattern. Anyone (yes, even YOU Beginning Crochet-er) can make them, even if you've never made anything other than a scarf before.

Speaking of scarves, these leg warmers use the same shell stitch as my Shell Stitch Cowl Scarf, which is another super impressive looking beginner crochet pattern.

Pattern after the jump:

Girly Crochet Leg Warmers Pattern

Ready, here we go! It's so easy I promise.

Yarn: I used Peaches & Creme cotton yarn in bright pink, (I can't say enough good things about this yarn!)
Hook:  H hook

ch: Chain
sl st: Slip stitch
sc: Single crochet
dc: Double crochet
shell: Cluster of 3 double crochet stitches in one stitch

Row 1: Ch 30, sl st to join.

Rows 2-5: Ch 1, sc around, sl st to close.

Rows 6-21: Ch 2, then dc 2 in the base of the chain (the chain acts as your first stitch), skip 2 stitches then dc 3 in next st. Do this all the way around, until you have 10 "shells."

Rows 21-31: Ch 1, sc around, sl st to close. Tie off ends.

The bows I can't take personal credit for, they're made using the Cute Crochet Bows Pattern from Whistle & Ivy.

  1. The pattern seems to be missing a step between row 6 and 7. Row 6 is the first row of shells, but then how do you finish off that row and start row 7? It appears as if the shells are worked into the spaces left from the previous row, but the pattern doesn't indicate this. Can you help? Thanks!
